The Coding School Awards are designed to recognise the efforts and achievements of Irish schools in teaching coding & STEM to their students.
They aim to highlight the work of teachers and schools in bringing these important subjects into the classroom and presenting new opportunities for students to learn about, use and program technology.
Get all the details on what the awards are, what are the qualifying criteria and how to apply for your school.
A teacher from the school can register with Coding Ireland and submit an application on behalf of their school. In the application the teacher can provide details of the school’s work in the different categories.
Get StartedTo qualify for an award, schools must demonstrate the levels of teacher training and classroom hours dedicated to coding & STEM for the category(s) they are applying for.

For schools using basic coding languages such as Scratch and other block based languages. |

For schools programming robots, circuits, sensors and cars. |

For each category that a school qualifies for, they will receive:
An award flag for the category and level
A certificate for the category and level
A digital badge for the category and level
This can be displayed on the school’s website and social media
There is no cost in applying for or receiving an award. There is a charge for replacement flags if they are needed.
The flags measure 5 foot x 3 foot (152cm x 91cm) and can come with either a rope & toggle or a D ring fixing.
Yes, schools can apply for each of the available categories (Coding School, Robotics School, Web Design School, Programming School).
Class hours refers to the total amount of hours a class has spent on Coding, Robotics, Web Design or Programming in one school year.
Coding Ireland are the body that evaluates applications and presents the awards.
Coding Ireland run both "in school" and "online" school events that bring the latest in Coding & STEM into your classroom.

Learn about robotics and program robots to play a football game against an artificial intelligence program.
