Blending

In this lesson, you will learn about blending techniques in digital painting and how to use them to create smooth transitions between colors and shades.

1 - Create a new project

Let's take a look and try out some digital software called Photopea. Open the website photopea.com and create a new project.

To create a new project in Photopea, open the website photopea.com and:

  1. Click the New Project button
  2. You can give your project a name and choose what size the image will be.
  3. Click the "Create" button.

2 - Draw a Simple Shape using the Brush Tool

Digital painting is all about creating shapes and blending colors together to form a beautiful artwork. To get started, open up your digital painting software, Photopea, and select the Brush tool from the toolbar. Choose your desired brush size and color, and then draw a simple shape on the canvas. This could be a circle, square, or any other shape you desire.

3 - Select the Shape using the Magic Wand Tool

Once you have drawn your shape, it's time to select it using the Magic Wand tool. Click on the Magic Wand tool from the toolbar and then click on the shape you just drew. This will select the entire shape.

4 - Choose a Different Color for the Brush Tool and Paint Over a Part of the Shape

Now that you have selected the shape, choose a different color for the Brush tool and paint over a part of the shape. This will create a new color on top of the original color. You can experiment with different colors and brush sizes to create different effects. Remember, you can always undo your changes if you don't like the result.

5 - Select the Gradient Tool and Choose a Gradient

The Gradient tool is another powerful tool in digital painting that can help you blend colors seamlessly. To select the Gradient tool, click on it in the toolbar. Next, choose a gradient from the gradient options located in the top toolbar. You can choose from a variety of gradients, including linear, radial, and diamond.
