1 - Introduction

In this lesson, we’re going to create an interactive hide-and-seek game! You’ll learn how to make characters disappear when you click on them and then reappear somewhere else on the screen. By the end of this lesson, you’ll have a fun game where your characters can play hide and seek at the click of a button!

2 - Create a new project

Create a new project in Scratch.

Go to the Scratch website using the link below and click on the 'Create' link in the blue bar at the top.

By default, each new project starts with the cat sprite already added. To delete the cat click on the x in the blue circle beside the cat in the sprite list.

3 - Add Two Characters

Start by adding two characters to your project. You can choose characters like a Cat and a Dog, or any pair that would be fun to play hide and seek with.

4 - Set the Background

Choose a background where your characters can play hide and seek, like a garden, a forest, or a park. This will set the scene for your game.

5 - Make the First Character Hide

Click on the first character (e.g., the Cat) to start coding. Begin with a "when this sprite clicked" block from the Events section. Underneath, add the "hide" block from the Looks section. This will make the Cat disappear when you click on it.
