1 - Welcome to the Classroom

Illustration for Welcome to the ClassroomImagine you're in a German school - what objects do you see around you? Today we're going to learn the names of 8 essential classroom items that German students use every day.

These words will help you when you need to borrow something from a classmate or ask the teacher for supplies. Knowing these words makes school life much easier in any German-speaking classroom!

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

    • Name 8 classroom objects in German
    • Spot which classroom words are masculine ('der'), feminine ('die'), or neuter ('das')
    • Ask to borrow classroom items from a friend

    2 - New Classroom Words

Word TableHere are today's 8 new German classroom words. Notice how most start with 'der' (masculine), 'die' (feminine), or 'das' (neuter) - this is how German shows noun gender.

Click each word to hear the correct German pronunciation, then repeat after the audio. Try to remember both the meaning AND the gender (der/die/das) for each item!

    3 - Label the Classroom

Label the ImageLook carefully at each classroom picture. Click the correct German label to name each object - can you spot which ones belong together?

Remember to listen for the article (der/die/das) when you hear the audio options. This helps you practise both recognition and listening skills at the same time!

    4 - Sort by Gender

Gender SortingTime to practise German noun genders! Drag each classroom word into the correct column - 'der' words (masculine) go on the left, 'die' words (feminine) in the middle, 'das' words (neuter) on the right.

Listen to each word as you drag it. Can you hear the difference between 'der Stift' and 'die Gummi'? This skill helps you speak more naturally in German!

    5 - Classroom Bingo

Bingo WorksheetYour teacher will hand out bingo cards. Listen carefully as classroom words are called, then mark them off on your card. First to get a line shouts 'Bingo!'

Each card shows pictures of today's vocabulary - practise saying the German names quietly to yourself as you mark them. This reinforces both listening and vocabulary recognition!
