    1 - Understand What a Self-portrait Is

A self-portrait is a picture that you draw of yourself. It can be realistic or abstract, but it should represent how you see yourself. Remember, there is no right or wrong way to draw yourself- it's all about expressing yourself!

    2 - Draw a Grid

Take a pencil and paper and draw a 7x7 grid. Each square in this grid will represent a pixel in your pixelated self-portrait.

Or you can print out a drid using the download with this step.

    3 - Sketch Your Portrait

Now, fill in the boxes of your grid to draw a simple picture of yourself. This will be a basic guide for your pixelated self-portrait.

If you need to draw a grid with more boxes then draw the new grid on a new sheet and start again.

    4 - Next Lesson

In the next lesson we will use your sketch as a guide to create your Pixel Self-Portrait!
