The Coding Ireland Curriculum has student courses for primary school (Junior Infants to 6th Class) and secondary school (1st Year to 6th Year).
The courses cover a range of digital skills:
You can explore the different courses available on the platform here. These include Coding, Robotics, Digital Art & Animation, and Artificial Intelligence. Each course is designed with a progression to cater to different school grades and skill levels.
For each grade (i.e. 1st Year) and digital skill (i.e. Coding) there are multiple courses that students can take, starting with beginner level courses and moving onto intermediate and advanced courses.
Each course is broken down into modules, units, and lessons. This structure ensures a logical and comprehensive learning path for students.
Step-by-step
Each lesson is broken down into bitesize steps with comprehensive instructions for the student to follow. This facilitates self paced learning (for students of a reading age), although teachers can also teach the lessons to their students by demonstrating the steps on their interactive screen.
Student Challenge
At the end of each lesson there is a student challenge which gives the students a specific challenge to add into their project. The students can then submit their work to the teacher.
Quiz
There is also a short multiple choice quiz at the end of each lesson that students can take. The questions in the quiz are relevant to the lesson and it's topics, and help the teacher assess and monitor their students.
Learning is a continuous journey, especially in the field of technology. Coding Ireland ensures that its curriculum is regularly updated to include the latest technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is crucial because technology is rapidly advancing, and having up-to-date knowledge allows you to stay competitive and relevant in the digital field.
We regularly refresh and add to our curriculum to ensure that students are always learning the most relevant and up-to-date digital skills.
