1 - Introduction to the Internet

Welcome to the World of the Internet! In this lesson, you will learn what the Internet is and why it is so important. Let's get started!

2 - How the Internet Works Video

This video explains what the internet is, when it was invented and how it works. It covers how information, such as a website or a phone message, is sent over the internet. The video also touches on the dangers of the internet.

Duration: 3:29

3 - Exploring the Internet

The Internet is a massive network of computers all around the world, connected to each other. It allows us to send messages, share information, and access websites from anywhere. Let's explore some of the things you can do on the Internet!

4 - Sending Messages

One of the most common ways people use the Internet is to send messages to each other. This can be done through email, social media, or messaging apps. When you send a message, it travels through the Internet and reaches the person you want to communicate with. Let's learn how this works!

Imagine you want to send a message to your friend named Alex. When you type your message on your computer or phone, it gets converted into a special code that can travel through the Internet. This code is made up of tiny pieces of information called 'data packets'.

These data packets travel through a network of computers and devices until they reach Alex's computer or phone. Once they arrive, they are converted back into the message you typed, and Alex can read it on their screen.

That's a simple way to understand how messages are sent over the Internet! In reality, the process is more complex, but this explanation helps you grasp the basic idea.

5 - Sharing Information

In this step, you will learn how the Internet helps us share information with people all around the world. We can share information through websites, blogs, or social media. Here are some ways people share information on the Internet:

  • Websites: These are like online books or magazines that have information on different topics. For example, a website about animals might have pictures and facts about different animals.
  • Blogs: These are like online journals where people write about their thoughts, experiences, or hobbies. For example, a blog about cooking might have recipes and tips for making delicious meals.
  • Social Media: These are online platforms where people can connect with friends and family, share pictures, videos, and messages. For example, you might see your parents sharing photos from your last family vacation on Facebook or Instagram.
