1 - Discover Word's Magic

In this course you will be creating school disco poster and a brochure using Microsoft Word. But first, let's learn about its history.

A Microsoft account gives you access to PowerPoint and other Microsoft applications, which are essential tools for creating presentations and working on various projects throughout this course.

What is Microsoft Word?

It is a powerful word processing tool that has been around since 1983. It is used worldwide for creating documents such as letters, reports, essays, and even posters like the one you'll be making for your school disco! Word is a part of the Microsoft Office suite, which also includes other popular tools like Excel and PowerPoint.

What can you do with Microsoft Word?

Think of it as a digital word processor, like a fancy and versatile version of a typewriter. With Microsoft Word, you can type, format, and organize text, add images, create tables, and do much more to create all sorts of documents, such as essays, reports, letters, and resumes. It's a valuable tool for anyone who needs to work with text and documents on a computer.

As you are using Microsoft Word on the cloud, once you save your document it will automatically save.

What is the "Cloud"?

The "cloud" is another way of saying "online" and means your content is assessable to you once you are logged into your account no matter the device you use.

Before you start working on your school disco poster you need to save your document:

  1. Click on 'File' in the top left corner.
