Have you ever wondered how to describe your favourite outfit in Spanish? Today we're becoming fashion experts who can talk about clothes in Spanish!
In Spain, fashion is famous worldwide - think Madrid Fashion Week! Knowing clothing words helps you shop, describe outfits, and even compliment friends' style.
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
- Name 10 clothing items in Spanish
- Use 'el', 'la', and 'los' correctly with clothes
- Describe what someone is wearing
2 - New Clothing Words
Let's discover how Spanish people describe their outfits! Click each clothing word below to hear the perfect Spanish pronunciation, then practise saying it yourself.
Notice how some clothes use el (masculine), some use la (feminine), and some use los (plural). Spotting the pattern between English and Spanish words will help you remember - like 'vestido' sounds similar to 'dress'!
How to Use This Activity:
Option 1: Digital Reference (Interactive)
- Display the Word Table on the whiteboard or let students access on their devices.
- Click/tap words to hear pronunciation - great for listening and speaking practice.
- Go through each word together, practising pronunciation as a class.

3 - Label the Outfit
Look at each clothing picture and click the correct Spanish label from the options. This helps you recognise clothes at a glance, just like in a Spanish fashion magazine!
How to Use This Activity:
Option 1: Students on Devices
- Students complete the Label the Image activity on their own laptop or tablet.
- Students see an image and select the correct word from multiple choices. Good for visual learners.
- Walk around the room to monitor progress and assist students who need help.
Option 2: Teacher-Led (Whiteboard/Projector)
- Display the activity on your interactive whiteboard or projector.
- Show the image and have students write their answer on mini whiteboards before revealing options.
- Invite students up to interact with the board, or have them call out answers from their desks.
4 - Word Search Challenge
Hunt for the hidden Spanish clothing words in the letter grid! Click and drag to highlight each word when you find it - can you spot them all?
How to Use This Activity:
Option 1: Students on Devices
- Students complete the Word Search activity on their own laptop or tablet.
- Students find vocabulary words hidden in a letter grid. Click and drag to highlight found words.
- Walk around the room to monitor progress and assist students who need help.
Option 2: Teacher-Led (Whiteboard/Projector)
- Display the activity on your interactive whiteboard or projector.
- Display the word search on your interactive whiteboard. Have students come up to find and highlight words.
- Invite students up to interact with the board, or have them call out answers from their desks.
5 - Partner Fashion Talk
Team up with a partner to practise describing outfits! Take turns reading the conversation prompts and filling in clothing words you've learned. Swap roles after completing the dialogue.
How to Use This Activity:
Option 1: Students on Devices
- Students complete the Partner Practice activity on their own laptop or tablet.
- Students practise dialogue with a partner or family member. They can click to hear each phrase before repeating.
- Walk around the room to monitor progress and assist students who need help.
Option 2: Teacher-Led (Whiteboard/Projector)
- Display the activity on your interactive whiteboard or projector.
- Pair students up to practise the dialogue. Model the conversation first with a volunteer, then have pairs practise.
- Invite students up to interact with the board, or have them call out answers from their desks.
