1 - Welcome to Body Parts
Have you ever played Simon Says or needed to tell a doctor where it hurts? Today we're learning the Spanish words for body parts so you can point and name them confidently!
In Spain, children learn these words in school and use them in PE classes, at the doctor, and when describing friends. Knowing body parts helps you describe appearance and understand instructions.
By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:
- Name 8 important body parts in Spanish
- Point to body parts when you hear the Spanish word
- Spot which body words use 'el' and which use 'la'
2 - Meet the Body Parts
Here are today's new Spanish body part words. Click each one to hear the pronunciation, then point to that part of your body as you repeat it out loud!
Notice that some words start with 'el' (masculine) and some with 'la' (feminine). Spanish nouns all have a gender - don't worry, you'll get the hang of it with practice. Try pointing to different body parts on yourself or a partner as you say the words.
How to Use This Activity:
Option 1: Digital Reference (Interactive)
- Display the Word Table on the whiteboard or let students access on their devices.
- Click/tap words to hear pronunciation - great for listening and speaking practice.
- Go through each word together, practising pronunciation as a class.
Option 2: Printed Reference Sheet

- Print the vocabulary reference sheet for students to keep as a study aid.
- Great for homework, revision, or as a take-home reference.
- Students can use it alongside the interactive activity.
3 - Flashcard Challenge
See the English word and try saying the Spanish body part before flipping the card! Point to the body part as you say it to help you remember.
How to Use This Activity:
Option 1: Students on Devices
- Students complete the Flashcards activity on their own laptop or tablet.
- Great for self-paced vocabulary drilling. Students can flip cards and repeat until confident.
- Walk around the room to monitor progress and assist students who need help.
Option 2: Teacher-Led (Whiteboard/Projector)
- Display the activity on your interactive whiteboard or projector.
- Click to flip cards and have the class say the word together. Use choral repetition for pronunciation practice.
- Invite students up to interact with the board, or have them call out answers from their desks.
4 - Label the Body
Look at each body picture and click the correct Spanish label! There are three choices for each picture - choose carefully.
How to Use This Activity:
Option 1: Students on Devices
- Students complete the Label the Image activity on their own laptop or tablet.
- Students see an image and select the correct word from multiple choices. Good for visual learners.
- Walk around the room to monitor progress and assist students who need help.
Option 2: Teacher-Led (Whiteboard/Projector)
- Display the activity on your interactive whiteboard or projector.
- Show the image and have students write their answer on mini whiteboards before revealing options.
- Invite students up to interact with the board, or have them call out answers from their desks.
5 - Body Diagram Sheet
Your teacher will hand out worksheets with body pictures. Write the correct Spanish word under each picture using today's vocabulary - great for practising recognition!
Worksheet Instructions:
- Print copies of this worksheet for your students before the lesson.
- Worksheets can be done during class time or for homework.
- Distribute one copy per student (or pair for collaborative work).
- The answer key is included at the end of the PDF - this is for teacher reference only.
