1 - Welcome to Drinks
Have you ever been to a French café and wondered what to order? Today we're learning the French names for all your favourite drinks! From 'le café' to refreshing 'l'eau', you'll know exactly what to ask for.
In France, people love going to cafés to chat with friends over coffee or hot chocolate. Now you'll be able to join in!
By the end of this lesson, you will:
- Name 8 popular drinks in French
- Listen to someone ordering drinks and understand
- Spot drinks in pictures and games
2 - Meet the Drinks
Here are today's new French drink words. Click each one to hear the perfect French pronunciation, then say it yourself! Notice how most drinks use 'le' because they're masculine - except for 'la limonade' which is feminine.
Some words like 'le jus' and 'le soda' sound very similar to English - these are called cognates and make learning easier!
How to Use This Activity:

- Display the Word Table on the whiteboard or let students access on their devices.

- Go through each word together, practising pronunciation as a class.

3 - Listen to Café Orders
Listen carefully to someone ordering drinks at a French café. You'll hear a short conversation, then answer the questions by clicking the correct answers. This helps you recognise the drink words when you hear them spoken naturally!
How to Use This Activity:
Option 1: Students on Devices
- Students complete the Listen & Answer activity on their own laptop or tablet.
- Students listen to audio and answer comprehension questions. They can replay audio as needed.
- Walk around the room to monitor progress and assist students who need help.
Option 2: Teacher-Led (Whiteboard/Projector)
- Display the activity on your interactive whiteboard or projector.
- Play audio to the whole class, then discuss answers together. Replay tricky sections.
- Invite students up to interact with the board, or have them call out answers from their desks.
4 - Find the Drinks

5 - Match the Drinks
