Warm-up

Think about the piece you made for format 1. A busy work experience supervisor has two minutes to look at it on a phone. Would you still use the same format?

Pick the format that fits your audience, not the one in fashion.

• Slide deck: screens for a talk, with one main idea on each slide.
• Infographic: one picture page with a headline, a few numbers and a clear message.
• Podcast: spoken audio that you can follow without looking at a screen.
• Short video: moving pictures and sound, often filmed on a phone.

Example

An infographic is quick to read, but it is hard to update. Use it when a supervisor needs costs on one page.

Your teacher will read out three claims about formats. There is no right or wrong spot on the line.

Common snags

• I only know my own format. Ask a classmate who built a different one, and put their first name in brackets.
• My comparison just says "looks nice". Write who the audience is and what they need.
• I don't know when to use a format. Name a real person it suits, like a supervisor or the VET examiner.
