Our shop purse is heavier today, with coins worth more inside! Look at these coins. Which coin is worth the most? How can you tell?
Each time we add the next coin, that is one jump on our count.
Watch three purses. Start with the biggest coin, then count on the rest. The biggest coin means the one worth the most, not the one that looks biggest.
Look at the last two purses. Both make 20c. Ten 2c coins need ten jumps. One 20c coin needs one jump. Bigger coins need fewer jumps.
Your turn at the board. Find the biggest coin first, then count on.
