Today you will
- pick two different formats for your project
- make sure one of them works in your VET interview
- write why each one fits, and who it is for
You will save all this in a plan called {{code:sm2_two_format_plan}}.
Warm-up
With a partner, name one format that would suit an interview. Then name one that would suit someone scrolling on a phone.
2 - Key Concepts ~6 mins
Different format means a different kind of thing, like a slide deck and a carousel. Two slide decks with different titles do not count.
Purpose is what the piece is for, such as to persuade.
Audience is who will see it, like an examiner.
A VET-ready format is one you can open without internet and present in the interview.
Example: Aoife
- Format 1 (VET): a six-slide deck to show the examiner her plan.
- Format 2: an Instagram carousel to attract students in her town.
3 - Step-by-step Task ~12 mins
You will build the outline of Aoife's Two Format Plan as practice. Follow the steps in the box below. Look at the classroom screen for Aoife's full wording.
4 - Common Issues ~5 mins
Common issues
- Both my formats are slide decks. Keep one deck, and make the second one different, like a short video or a carousel.
- I want a TikTok for the VET. Only use a video you can save as an {{code:.mp4}} and play offline. Otherwise, keep it for Format 2.
- I have no topic yet. Agree your topic with your teacher before you open the file.
5 - Independent Practice ~22 mins

- Check your topic with your teacher before you start.
- In {{code:Project_Portfolio/09_specialism/sm2}}, make a document called {{code:sm2_two_format_plan}}.
- Add the headings below, with Heading 1 for the title and Heading 2 for the rest.
- Under each format, write its type, purpose and audience. Then write in full sentences why it fits and what people should remember.
- Write How the two connect and the Decision check in full sentences.
