Warm-up

Think about the two presentations you saved in {{code:sm2}}. For each one, finish this line in your notes or tell a partner: "I would pick this format again when..."

A format is not good or bad on its own. It either fits the job or it doesn't.

• Format fit means matching the format to what your audience must do.
• A trade-off means every format gives you something and costs you something.
• Lived evidence is what really happened when you built or rehearsed it.

Example: a slide deck

• Benefit: One idea per slide kept me on track in rehearsal.
• Challenge: I overfilled two slides and had to cut them.
• Use it for: A short live talk, like the VET interview.

As a class, match each presentation need to the format that fits it best.

After Check, name the runner-up for any card people argued over.

Two cards are about carousels and two are about videos. Compare each pair and say how they differ.

Common issues

• Two formats both fit a card. Pick the best fit for the main job, and say the runner-up out loud.
• My pros and cons sound like a textbook. Add one real thing from building, like something you cut or something a peer said.
• I can't find my comparison page. Look in {{code:Project_Portfolio}}, then {{code:09_specialism}}, then {{code:sm2}}. If it isn't there, make {{code:sm2_format_comparison}} in that folder.
