Here is a real Irish Rail timetable, Cork to Dublin. Each column is one train; each row is a stop. The 07:00 train from Cork (Kent) reaches Dublin Heuston at 09:35.

Watch how we work out a journey time by counting on. First we hop from the start time up to the next whole hour. Then we count the whole hours. Last we count the final few minutes. We'll do this for three journeys, so notice which ones cross an o'clock along the way.

The train timetable is back on the board. Your teacher will name a station to leave from and a station to arrive at. Count on from the first time to the second — up to the next full hour, then the rest of the way — and say how long the journey takes. A pupil then taps the two cells so we can all check.

Each challenge names a service and two stations. Find both times on the timetable, count on from the first to the second, and tap the depart cell then the arrive cell. The hops get longer as you go, and the last ones cross an o'clock.
