    1 - Getting Started ~3 mins

Illustration for Getting StartedToday our question is: what is your favourite playground game, Tag, Skipping or Football? We will take that question all the way to a graph.

    2 - Our Class Vote ~5 mins

Hands up to vote. We mark one tally for each vote: Tag, Skipping or Football.

    Our favourite playground game

    3 - Watch and Notice ~7 mins

A data journey is how we go from a question to an answer. The four steps are ask, tally, towers, then read.

First journey: favourite playground game. Here is the tally.

Each tally mark becomes one block. Seven Tag tallies become seven blocks.

Same four steps, new question: how we travel to school.

    4 - Try It Together ~8 mins

The tally is done. Your job is the towers. One pupil drags; everyone else counts the blocks aloud until each tower matches its tally row.

    Build towers from our tally

    5 - Class Challenge ~8 mins

Now we prove we can read a graph. We will do one job at a time: build, then find the tallest and read its votes, then count the gap.
