Here is a fruit tally from a class survey. A tally works, but a row of little pictures can be even easier to compare at a glance.
Apple has four tally marks. If one picture stands for one vote, how many apple pictures would you draw?
Here are three pictograms made from the same fruit tally. Each picture stands for exactly one vote, and the longest row is the easiest to spot.
Key: 1 picture = 1 vote
Let's build the fruit pictogram from the tally, one picture for each vote. Press + once for each vote in the row.
Start with the apple row, then banana, then orange. Count the pictures in each row before you move on.
Key: 1 picture = 1 vote
In your maths copy, draw a row of 5 pictures for five votes.
Four new surveys, one at a time. Read the votes above the chart, press + once for each vote in every row, then press Check.
The class counts the pictures in each row to make sure they match the votes.
Key: 1 picture = 1 vote
