1 - Three Things in Your Bedroom ~4 mins

Illustration for Three things in your bedroomName three things in your bedroom right now. Keep them in your head for a moment.

Today we learn those kinds of words in French: the furniture that fills a room. We will also look back at how far you have come with French.

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

    • Name eight pieces of furniture in French
    • Match each one to a room it belongs in
    • Celebrate the words and phrases you can use after a year of French

2 - Eight French Furniture Words ~10 mins

Listen to the audio, then repeat the French with le, la or l'. After you have heard and said it, try the French from the English side before you flip. Listen for the soft zh sound in l'étagère, like the s in treasure.

3 - Spin and Say It ~10 mins

The wheel lands on a piece of furniture. Everyone whispers the French word with its article first. Then one volunteer says it aloud. Try it yourself first; ask for the audio if you need a reminder. After the French word, add the room in English (bedroom, kitchen or living room).

    4 - Into Your Copy ~4 mins

    COPYBOOK MOMENT

Open your copy. From the board, write four furniture words with le, la or l'. Beside each one, write the room it belongs in, in English (bedroom, kitchen or living room).

    5 - Furniture Bingo ~10 mins

Use the bingo card on your desk. When you hear a furniture word in French, mark it. First full line calls out!
