A frog crosses the pond two stepping stones at a time, starting from the bank. Which stones does it land on? Which stones does it never touch?
The frog's stepping stones are the numbers on this line. Watch the frog jump two at a time. A landing is the stone it stops on. Say each landing aloud — and listen hard to the end number (the little number on the right, like the 2 in 12).
Now the frog keeps going all the way to 20. What do you notice about the end numbers?
Start on a number the frog already landed on — try 4. Jump two each time. Predict the landing before each jump.
In your maths copy, write the jumps-of-two landings from 2 to 20 in one careful line:
Jump two each time. Before each jump, say the end number.
