Listen as we tap each word, then say it back together. We will look at one food at a time across five languages. Only one row is in focus on the board; the others stay hidden until we need them. Watch which spellings stay almost the same and which change a lot.
Cousin words are words that look or sound alike because they come from the same place long ago. Others only look alike by chance.
We will vote with hands up: true cousin or only a lookalike, then hear a short story about the word. Watch for any pair that shares letters with today's foods.
Pick one food. Write it in three languages, one under the other. Underline the letters that match in every line you wrote.
Best picks for shared letters: pizza (English / French / German / Spanish) or salad (English / Irish / French / German). If you pick soup, choose three of: soup, la soupe, die Suppe, la sopa. Skip anraith for this underline task (different letter family).

Only underline a letter if you can see it in every line you wrote. Capital and small letters count as the same (P and p both count).
Soup micro-example (if you choose soup): soup · la soupe · la sopa. Shared letters include s · o · p.
Your turn: pick one food. Copy three language forms from the word-table still on the board, then underline the shared letters.
Default game: whole-class 3×3 listen-and-point on the board. We listen for today's food words in five languages. Point to the matching square when you hear that form. The first full line (row, column or the pattern we agree) wins with silent jazz hands, then the winner reads the line back like a menu.
