Matching O'clock Times to Our Day

Pupils explore matching o'clock times to moments in their day like getting up at eight o'clock and going to bed at seven. They learn to set the clock hands correctly for these times.

    1 - Getting Started ~3 mins

    Today we match the clock to moments in our day. We use o'clock times only.

    2 - Watch and Notice ~7 mins

    Look at both hands on each clock.

    The long hand points straight up to 12. The short hand points to the hour number.

    Be ready to say the o'clock time and the moment it matches.

    3 - Try It Together ~9 mins

    We set the clock for one moment at a time.

    One friend sets the hands. Everyone else watches the board and says if it matches.

    4 - Write Your Bedtime in Your Copy ~2 mins

    COPYBOOK MOMENT

    In your maths copy, write: I go to bed at ___ o'clock.

    Fill the gap with your own bedtime hour.

    5 - Class Challenge ~8 mins

    Set the clock for these moments: school starts at 9 o'clock, little break at 11 o'clock, home time at 3 o'clock, and bedtime at 7 o'clock.

    One friend sets both hands, then checks. Everyone else watches and confirms.
