- add one or two calm motions to your format 1.
- say what each movement is for.
What is format 1?
Format 1 is your v4 presentation, video or carousel for VET in {{code:sm2/}}. If yours is missing, tell your teacher now.
Warm-up
Look at the two slides above. Which one would you trust in a VET interview, and why?
If you can't say what a movement is for, cut it.
Direction is a small fade or cut that moves the eye to the next idea.
Distraction is bounce, spin or flashing that pulls eyes off your words.
The one-to-two rule means one or two motion choices in the whole piece. Effects from a template still count.
Safe choices are fade, appear and a simple cut.
Example
In your enterprise pitch, one fade-in on the cost figure makes everyone look at the number.
Make a practice file called {{code:motion_practice}} in {{code:sm2/}}.
If you use slides, follow the steps in the box below. If you use CapCut or Canva, copy your teacher's screen one step at a time.
CapCut users, first film two short shots on your phone, one wide and one close-up.

Common issues
- Every bullet moves in one by one. Remove those effects and put one fade on the whole text box.
- I can't find Animations or Motion. Click the title or shape first, and then the controls appear.
- My template added lots of effects. Delete them until only one or two are left.
- I mixed up my files. Practice is {{code:motion_practice}}. Format 1 keeps its old name.
Independent Practice
- Open your format 1 file in {{code:Project_Portfolio/09_specialism/sm2/}}. Don't rename it.
- Keep one or two calm choices. On slides, that's one fade-in and one shared transition. In CapCut, it's one clean cut between your two best shots. In Canva, it's one page fade or a fade on the key number.
- Play the whole piece once. Delete any movement that has no job.
- Save it under the same name in {{code:sm2/}}.
- Format 1 opens from {{code:sm2/}} with its old name.
- I use two motion choices at most.
- I can say what each one is for.
- The piece feels calm when I play it.
