A mystery envelope holds three pattern strips. One repeats, one grows, and one skip-counts. Which strip repeats, which grows, which skip-counts, and what made you sure?
Three kinds of pattern on the board. A chunk is the little bit that happens again. For each one, decide: does it repeat a chunk, grow taller by the same amount each step, or skip-count by jumping on the numbers?
Growing changes how many blocks sit in each tower. Skip-count jumps along the hundred square. Sort all three under the headings repeats, grows, skips.
Today we explore skip counts on the hundred square. We will shade the next three numbers for each of these: twos from 8, fives from 25, and tens from 40. Chant along as each number is shaded.
Look at this model on the board: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25. In your maths copy, pick twos, fives or tens. Start at the number your teacher gives you. Write exactly five numbers in your skip-count line.
