    1 - Introduction ~5 mins

    Illustration for Introduction

    Today you will

    • give a 2-minute pitch of your Something Real using your deck
    • walk a listener through your Digital Portfolio
    • write an honest reflection on how far you have come since week 1

You have nothing new to build, because everything is already in your portfolio.

    Warm-up

Think of a time someone pitched something to you, like a school trip. What made you listen, and what made you tune out?

    2 - Key Concepts ~5 mins

    • Opening hook: your first sentence, which grabs the listener with a fact, a question or a stake.
    • Pacing: speaking slowly enough for people to follow, because nerves make most people rush.
    • Portfolio walkthrough: showing each file in your folder and saying what you learned making it.
    • Honest self-assessment: comparing the work you finished with the goals you set in week 1.

    Example: a strong self-assessment

My week-1 goal was to learn spreadsheets. Now I can build a budget with SUM and AVERAGE in {{code:05_numbers_sheet}}.

    3 - Step-by-step: Final Polish and Rehearsal ~7 mins

Before you pitch, fix anything your peer suggested on your deck, then say your opening line out loud once. Follow the steps in the box below. This is your last chance to change anything.

    4 - Common Issues ~3 mins

    If something goes wrong

    • I can't find my deck. Open your {{code:Digital_Portfolio}} folder, or search for {{code:08_pitch_deck}} in OneDrive or Google Drive.
    • My voice shakes. Breathe out once, then start with the opening line you rehearsed.
    • Time is nearly up and I haven't reached the ask. Skip to your last slide, because the ask matters most.

5 - Pitch Day and Portfolio Walkthrough ~20 mins

You have about 3 minutes in total. That's 2 minutes to pitch from your deck, then 1 minute to show your Digital Portfolio.

    When it's your turn

    1. Open {{code:08_pitch_deck}} on slide 1 and start the slide show.
    2. Give your pitch: the hook, what it is, why it matters, the numbers and the ask.
    3. Close the slide show and open your {{code:Digital_Portfolio}} folder.
    4. Name each file and say one sentence about it. For example, {{code:05_numbers_sheet}} is "the budget with the SUM and AVERAGE formulas".
    5. Take your seat.

    When someone else is pitching

    • Listen, with no side chats.
    • On paper or in a phone note, jot one or two words about something each person did well.
    • Clap for everyone.
