1 - The Animal You Would Rather Not Meet ~5 mins

Illustration for The animal you would rather not meetWhich wild animal would you least like to meet, and why? Take a moment, then share one idea with the class.

Today you will name eight wild animals in Spanish as if you were spotting them on a trail through a Spanish wildlife park. Then you will join each one to a colour and a size in a full sentence, not just a single word.

By the end of this lesson, you will be able to:

    • Name eight wild animals in Spanish with el or la
    • Describe an animal with a colour and a size in one sentence
    • Listen for animal details and answer short questions

    2 - Eight Wild Animals ~10 mins

Imagine we are walking a trail through a Spanish wildlife park. Watch the board: listen to each Spanish name first, then say it with the class. Keep el or la with every animal.

When all eight names feel steady, we will build full sentences with a size and a colour.

    Size and colour bank (recap):

    • grande (GRAHN-deh): big
    • pequeño / pequeña (peh-KEH-nyoh / peh-KEH-nyah): small
    • amarillo / amarilla, gris, marrón, negro / negra, blanco / blanca

    Sentence pattern:

El león es grande y amarillo. (The lion is big and yellow.)

El mono es pequeño y marrón. (The monkey is small and brown.)

La jirafa es grande y amarilla. (The giraffe is big and yellow.)

Pequeño becomes pequeña with la. Colour words agree too (amarilloamarilla). Marrón and grande stay the same in the singular.

    3 - Wild Animal Bingo ~8 mins

You are on a silent wildlife watch in the park. Your teacher will hand out a paper bingo card. A picture strip of today's eight animals stays on the board to help you.

    Key point

Listen for each Spanish animal name and mark it when you hear it. When one full line is complete, call Bingo and read those animals back in Spanish with el or la.

    4 - Into Your Copy ~5 mins

    COPYBOOK MOMENT

Two sightings for your field notebook. First say two model sentences with the class, then open your copy and write two Spanish sentences about wild animals you spot on the reserve.

Use the board frame: El/La ___ es ___ y ___. Every sentence needs the article, a size word and a colour. Mind the accents on león, pequeño and marrón.

5 - Listen for the Animals ~10 mins

Help the park ranger finish the count. A short scene about counting animals will play for the whole class. Listen twice together, then answer the questions. If you need a part again, ask and we will replay it on the board.
