2 - Today's Word: Algorithm ~4 mins
Today's word: algorithm. That means a set of steps in the right order that tell you how to do something.
Say it with me: an algorithm is steps in the right order.
3 - Watch the Steps ~5 mins
Look at the four sandwich picture cards. Which one should come first?
Watch how we put them in order, then say the steps with me.
4 - Order the Cards ~7 mins
Now it is your turn to be the one who gets the order right. Your group will clear a space on the floor first, and then your teacher will give you the same sandwich picture cards you have just watched.
Lay the four pictures on the floor in the order that would really make a sandwich, and then say the four steps out loud together, so your group can hear whether the order sounds right.
5 - Play Robot ~6 mins
Now you can bring your ordered cards to life by playing robot with them.
One child is the talker, who reads out one step and then stops. One child is the robot, who pretends to do only that one step and then waits for the next one. When you have been through the cards, swap jobs so everyone gets both turns. Everything is pretend, so there is no real food.
