A studio session is a build, not a lesson. No new blocks today. One site, on whatever you want, made properly.

Getting started: open the builder on the next step. If you have a site from earlier it is waiting there; if not, there is a Home page waiting with a heading and one line on it, ready for you to replace.

Pick something you actually know about. A team, a game, a place, a band, a hobby. The writing is easier and the result is better.

Five minutes of planning saves the whole session. On paper or in your head, decide:

• Your subject, in one sentence a stranger would understand.
• Your pages. Two or three. A home page plus one page going deeper is plenty; four thin pages is worse than two good ones.
• The one line you want read first. That is your banner.
• What sits beside what. Anything that comes in pairs belongs in a row.

Then build in that order: write first, arrange second, style last. Styling an empty page is the commonest way to run out of time with nothing on screen.

Get the content down. It will look plain, and that is correct for now.

1. On your Home page, set the heading to your subject.
2. From Content, add text blocks and write two short paragraphs. Write them properly, as if for someone who knows nothing about it.
3. From Content, add a subheading, then more text under it.
4. From Page, drag a second page block onto an empty part of the workspace and name it. Write that page too.

Do not style anything yet.

Now decide where things sit.

1. From Layout, put a banner at the top of your Home page carrying the one line you chose.
2. From Links & buttons, add a menu block under it so a reader can reach every page.
3. From Layout, add a row with two box blocks inside it, and move something into each box.
4. Check the Your web page tab after each change, not at the end.

Last two jobs, and the second matters more.

1. On each page block, choose a background, a text colour and a font that suit your subject. Keep them the same on every page or the site stops feeling like one site.
2. Then read your site from the top as somebody who has never heard of your subject.
