These three coins are gold. They are worth far more than the small brown 1c and the other small cent coins you already know.
One of them is worth as much as fifty of the little 1c coins. Which do you think it is?
Look at each tray. The gold coin matches a pile of smaller coins: same amount.
One pupil at a time comes to the board. Find the gold coin the teacher names and put it in the tray. Everyone else watches and agrees.
We will find 10c, then 20c, then 50c. After each find, the class reads the number on the coin. At the end we say which of the three is worth the most.
In your maths copy, write the three bigger coins and what each matches:
One pupil at a time works at the board. Find the 10c coin, then the 20c, then the 50c. Put each one in the tray. The class checks together after each find.
Last find: the board shows a mixed handful of coins. Find the coin worth the most and put it in the tray. The class confirms before you move on.
