This course provides a complete mathematics programme for 3rd class, covering place value to 1,000, the four operations with mental and written strategies, fractions, decimals, measures, area, perimeter, volume, time, money, 2D and 3D shapes, angles, symmetry, location, data handling, chance and early algebra. Pupils develop conceptual understanding through concrete materials, visual representations and problem-solving, while building fluency and confidence across all strands of the primary mathematics curriculum.

What Students Will Learn

Learning Goals

  1. Develop deep understanding of place value in whole numbers up to 1,000 and apply rounding to nearest 10 and 100
  2. Master mental and written strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, including solving mixed operation word problems
  3. Recognise, compare and order fractions and decimals, and find simple fractional amounts of quantities
  4. Measure and calculate length, weight, capacity, perimeter, area and volume using appropriate units and tools
  5. Identify and describe 2D and 3D shapes, angles, symmetry, transformations and location while interpreting data, chance and algebraic patterns

Learning Outcomes

  1. Read, write, partition and compare three-digit whole numbers using place value up to 1,000.
  2. Add and subtract two- and three-digit numbers using mental strategies, column methods with renaming, and solve related word problems.
  3. Recall and use multiplication facts for the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 10 times tables and relate them to division, including division with remainders.
  4. Recognise, name, compare and order simple fractions and tenths; link common fractions to their decimal equivalents.
  5. Estimate, measure and record length, weight and capacity in appropriate metric units, then solve practical measures problems.
